Custom build for a customer who brought in a vintage Castrol oil can and a Gibson style neck.







A wooden frame of ash and sapele was made to match the internal dimensions of the can, weight relief ‘added’ and hardware mountings drilled and routed. Working with sheet metal is not something I’m used to. Unlike wood, filing it into shape makes a very unpleasant sound 😆 The cap of the can is the volume control 😉👍🏻 it is tuned to open D major with a high action for blues slide jams.
